If you've ever wanted to participate in a major marathon then The Chicago Marathon should be high on your list. A fun course wending its way through the Lakeshore, Wrigleyville, Financial District, Chinatown and other vibrant neighborhoods, the course doubles as a scenic tour of the Windy City. If you're slightly low on training nary a hill will be found, and if you're the kind of runner who needs to be urged on, the zillion spectators lining the route will provide more than enough encouragement along with an occasional banana or lemonade.
Registration is usually filled by May so you'll need to register fairly early. Though this is the biggest marathon in the world (a whopping 38,000) it is also one of the most popular.
