Compete and win in four categories in the Sixth Annual San Francisco Writers Conference Writing Contest
The Categories: Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction/Memoir, Poetry, Children's Books
Prizes:
First Place: The First Place winner in each category will receive $100 in cash, a free Author Solutions publishing package, an SFWC tote bag, a winner's certificate and prizes suitable for writers
Honorable Mention: Honorable Mentions will receive a 50% discount on an Author Solutions publishing package, an SFWC tote bag and some valuable prizes suitable for writers. There may not be an honorable mention in every category or there may be more than one.
Entry Fee: $25 per submission. Checks should be made out to: San Francisco Writers Conference.
Entry Deadline:
Materials must be postmarked by January 7, 2011 and sent to the San Francisco Writers Conference office at 1029 Jones Street, San Francisco, CA 94109. Finalists in each category will be posted on our website (www.sfwriters.org) by January 31, 2011. Winners will be announced at the 2011 San Francisco Writing Conference, February 11-13, 2011, at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel, then posted at the website.
Submission Details: For Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction/Memoir and Children's Book:Submit one official entry form, two copies of a one-page single-spaced synopsis and two copies of the first chapter (or entire short story or essay), double-spaced, single-sided up to 2,500 words. Also include a fee of $25. No illustrations please! For Poetry: Submit one official entry form and two copies of one poem, up to 32 lines. Also include a fee of $25.
Rules:
Every entry will be read by the judges. The decision of the judges is final.
Judges reserve the right to re-categorize entries.
All entries must be original, unpublished work (not submitted to this contest in previous years and NOT self-published.)
All entries must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times Roman or similar font, on one side of 8-1/2 x 11-inch bond paper. Synopses may be single-spaced.
Place the title and page number on each page. Make sure no author name or contact information appears on any page of the submission except for the official entry form or the entry will be disqualified.
An official entry form must be completed and attached to each entry.
Each entry must be accompanied by the entry fee of $25.
All entries must be in English.
Entries will not be returned or critiqued.
If fewer than 10 entries are received in any category, that category will either be merged with another category or the category will not be judged and the entry fees will be returned to the entrants.
Entries must be postmarkedby 5:00 P.M. Pacific Time on January 7, 2011

A list of finalists will be posted at www.sfwriters.org by January 31, 2011. The list of winners will be posted on the website by February 20, 2011. We will not fulfill individual requests for finalist and winner names. You must go to the website for those details.
Staff of Larsen-Pomada Literary Agents, as well as San Francisco Writers Conference staff, presenters, agents, editors and volunteers, cannot enter the contest.
We will not confirm delivery of your entry by phone, mail or email. If you want delivery confirmation of your entry, please send your entry via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation or by UPS or Fed Ex with tracking numbers. Finalist names will be posted at www.sfwriters.org by January 31, 2011 and winner names by February 20, 2011.
The Author Solutions publishing packages will be from the imprint best suited to the category at the sole discretion of the San Francisco Writers Conference.
