Robot Racing is an organization that is hosting an autonomous mobile robotics competition for undergraduate students at UW. In the Autonomous Racing Challenge 2009 teams would have to design and build fully autonomous robot vehicles to compete head to head against each other on an outdoor circuit and drag race tracks.

The first competition was held in April 2005, continuing our annual tradition until 2009. Furthermore, we plan to hold similar competitions annually in the near future. We always receive a minimum of 9 to 11 team entries, including 60+ students from UW and other universities from all over Canada.

Robot Racing is an effort to promote research in autonomous mobile robotics technology in a structure that is challenging and exciting, for both the competitors and spectators. Robot Racing is operated by a group of UW graduate students and faculty that share a fascination with finding and pushing the boundaries of high-performance robotics. The Robot Racing competitions provide undergraduate students with real-world, hands-on engineering design challenges, including components of mechanical, computer, control software, and system integration.
