The Kingsville Competitions Has been reorganized and will offer Bowed Instrument (String) and Piano Competitions on a rotating schedule. In Year 2010 the Kingsville Competitions will host Bowed Instrument Concerto and Solo Competitions.
GENERAL INFORMATION
No lower age limit! Contestants under the age of 26 on April 2, 2009, may enter.
Past winners of any performance prize with the Corpus Christi or Victoria Symphonies are ineligible to enter concerto contests.
Prizes total over $20,000.
<><>REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS
CONCERTO COMPETITIONS: Contestants must select from available orchestral repertoire a complete solo concerto (or one concert piece for solo instrument with orchestra).
SOLO COMPETITIONS: In general, three compositions of contrasting style and/or period are required. Most sonata movements serve as complete compositions. However, when a movement merges with the following one, the esthetic unit is a complete composition.
