Nidecker Snowboards has partnered with Core77 to produce an international design competition inviting designers to create custom snowboard graphics. The Grand Prize winner will be included in the Nidecker 2010/11 line, and the Top 4 will be produced in a limited run and receive a snowboard with their own design.
Design Brief
For this competition, Nidecker is challenging designers to create the next generation of snowboard graphics. Designers can submit designs of any style or content, and participants have the entire topsheet of the board as their canvas.
Step 1: Register
You must pre-register in order to take part in this competition. Upon registration, you will receive an entry number via email, which you will use when submitting your entry.
Step 2: Download the templates
Download the Illustrator or Photoshop template shown on the right and create your artwork on the layer indicated in the template.
**NOTE: Winning entries will be required to submit high-resolution images upon notification. So if you are working in raster mode, make sure your overall graphic image is 175cm (69") in length at 250dpi. (Once you have completed the artwork, reduce and paste into the Photoshop template provided, flatten, and submit as a jpeg.) If you are working in vector mode, use the Illustrator template and have the file ready to send upon request.
Step 3: Send in your work
Attach the jpeg image to an email and send to: nidecker@core77.com. You must include your registration number in the subject line of the email.
Judging
1 Grand Prize winner, 4 Runners Up, and 15 notables will be selected by a panel of judges and published at core77.com and nidecker.com. Entries will be judged on the following criteria: design, originality, and execution.
Multiple Entries and Groups
Participants are encouraged to submit as many designs as they wish, but must include their registration number with each submission. Submissions with no registration number will not be considered. Group entries are allowed. One member of the team must complete the registration form, and all group member names should be listed when submitting your entry.
Publicity
All winners may be required to participate in press initiatives including the following: - Names and winning concepts to be incorporated in all PR outreach and press materials - Winner and Finalists will each be required to submit a headshot and bio for press use.
Rights
Intellectual property rights will remain with the designer, although Core77 and Nidecker retain the right to publish or display any competition entry in any format, exhibition or publication. Nidecker retains the right to use the Grand Prize design for application on a production snowboard, royalty-free. Nidecker retains the right to use the 4 Runners Up designs for application on a limited edition snowboard, royalty-free.
Eligibility
This competition is open to all designers, students and enthusiasts worldwide. The competition is free--there is no entry fee for participation. Employees of Core77 or Nidecker are not eligible to participate.
